Mozzified’s Brett Murphy sat down with Zayn Malik and discussed Malik’s future plans, post-One Direction.
“Well, my father is Pakistani and I felt like something in my life was missing. I knew it was time to leave One Direction,” said Malik.
Malik announced his departure from One Direction, last week, via a Facebook statement, to the dismay of millions of his fans. Malik decided it was time to do some “soul-searching” and travel back to his father’s homeland, Pakistan.
On his way to Karachi, Malik ran into Junaid Jamshed at Heathrow. “It was serendipity, I felt like I was speaking to someone who really had his life together,” said Malik.
The two talked about the “pop star life” and how “it just felt so empty after a while.” Jamshed convinced the young British Pakistani to go on tour with him this summer instead.
“I didn’t think recovery could be so simple as staying in London and starting my own clothing line, but Junaid has convinced me that this is the path to take,” said Malik.
“I’m all the Pakistan he needs for now,” said Jamshed.
Jamshed and Malik are hoping that the other Directioners will follow suit and join them on their tour this summer. “We think we’ve almost got Harry, the others will take some work.”
